ICAR officials discuss farmers’ challenges with MoS Agriculture in Dimapur

Dimapur, January 18 (MExN): A delegation of the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) met Union Minister of State for Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Bhagirath Choudhary in Dimapur to discuss initiatives aimed at strengthening agriculture and animal husbandry in the North Eastern Region.

The delegation comprised Dr Girish Patil S., Director, ICAR–National Research Centre on Mithun, Dr Phool Kumari, Head, Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK)–Dimapur, and Dr Harender Verma, Scientist, ICAR Nagaland Centre.

During the meeting, the ICAR team briefed the minister on various initiatives and activities being undertaken by ICAR institutions to promote agriculture and animal husbandry in the region. Key interventions focused on enhancing farmers’ livelihoods, improving livestock productivity, and strengthening extension services were highlighted.

The minister held detailed discussions on the challenges faced by farmers in Nagaland and underlined the immense potential of natural farming practices in the state. He appreciated the efforts of ICAR institutions in the region and stressed the need for sustained scientific support and farmer-centric approaches to ensure sustainable agricultural development.
