If the Naga public were to awaken from their silence and voice out their rights, do you think 2017 will witness changes? Why?

Some of those who voted YES had this to say:

•    Yes. This is what everyone is waiting for - the public to break the silence. The public silence means that we have sold out our rights to the politicians. Unless we break the silence against wrong policies and corrupt practices, how can we fight for Clean Elections? To strengthen the Clean Elections we need to first break out silence and voice out our rights.

•    Sure, if the slumbering Naga public wake up and voice out their rights in action, definitely 2017 will witness changes gradually. The culture of allowing a few crooks to deceive the mass must stop at all cost. The Naga general public has been taken for a ride by uncultured politicians and bureaucrats for too long. Nagas must firmly stand for their rights for justice and peace beginning from today itself. We can overcome corruption if the general public can stand together and voice out for our rights without fearing water cannon and tear gas!

•    Yes. With the 33% reservation for women to contest in the municipal and NLA elections being  the first thing. •    Yes, if the Naga public were to start demanding their rights, I think the situation will change and the politicians and bureaucrats will not be able to ignore the depressing situation anymore. Currently, the silence of the public is making them take things for granted. It is time for public to stand up and say enough is enough.

•    Yes. Its about time to awaken from our slumber

•    Yes. Till now only a few dedicated organisations are in the battlefield. If all conscious Nagas get involved, definitely a change will be ushered in. It should be sort of revolution.

•    Yes. They need to be informed. Nagas must discard "always" thinking and doing on tribal lines

•    Yes. People are ready for change. And it will happen if more people get louder and truly determined.

•    Yes, if only we are united as one. But it's a long dream which hope we can achieve one day

•    Yes It will show the strength of our unity.

•    Yes because the voice and thoughts of the public are for general and much stronger than a political or an organizations voice..

•    Yes. If the Naga people voice out for out rights loud and clear definitely, from there on, there would be changes in our Naga society so, let it be 2017.

Some of those who voted NO had this to say:

•    No, not the next year, but after the general election/selection. Hope and pray that a new wave will touch every heart of the Naga, and that will be the beginning for us to go forward to claim our rights. Kuknalim.

•    No. money still is the driving force in nagaland. the last decade had made undeserving class filthy rich overnight. this class of people are the driving force in our society. so, until this class is wipe out, be 2017 or 2020 nagas will see no change.

•    No. Everybody hates corruption, however, only handful of people stands against corruption. The need of the hour in the Naga society is not the moral support but to walk the talk.

•    No... we need to take our dissent to the streets.

•    No! Nagas are good with silent screams on social media, already awake but too lazy to get out of bed, only barking like dogs in chain of self deceit and hidden corruptedness. The only way to witness changes will be when vigilantes start wiping out our corrupt lawkeepers and our two faced police force.

•    No way! I don’t doubt that the situation will improve if the Naga people were to awaken from their deep slumber. The problem is that they do not want to wake up from their sleep. It seems like they want to remain sleeping.

•    Lets face the ugly truth, we are not ready for change, Naga are not willing to fight for change. We are only good at cribbing about others, criticizing those who do good and don’t care a damn about what is happening in our state.

Some of those who voted OTHERS had this to say:

•    Greater and better will be achieved if public continue to SLEEP

•    Honestly, if all the Nagas unite, in spite of personal or political differences. it can easily win/achieve our goal.bt someone always play a puppet role

•    We people doesn't realize and remain timid. If the Naga people awaken from our silence and voice out our rights, we have the power to change.

•    It has already awaken but sadly as mentioned above some are puppets who plays the other side of the coin and suppress the other part

•    2017 news headlines are going to be dominated by 33% women reservation and women candidates for Municipal election. That's all.

•    Just by voicing out won't bring any change until We the Nagas UNITE and WALK THE TALK.
