Kohima | July 15 : Agitated over the silent response of the Principal and Vice Principal of Indian Institute of Para Medical Technology (IIPMT), Kohima around 70 students along with their parents today, gathered at South Police Station, demanding from the Principal to produce proper documents and names of the managing board members.
Leaders of Naga Students’ Federation were also seen at the South Police station. Mention may be made here that the Indian Institute of Paramedical Technology (IIPMT), AG Road Kohima, established in 2007, had failed to provide valid documents to the students of the first three batches who had cleared Nursing and Laboratory Technician training from the institute. With their careers at risk, the students gathered at Zinyü, the Principal’s residence last Friday at Paramedical Colony where police personnel intervened and took the students and parents at South Police Station for discussion which further decided to give a week time to the principal to provide proper documents of the institute.
It is astounding to learn that IIPMT students were always denied when applied for government job stating that their institute is not recognized under any university. However, the agitated students said that the institute is affiliated to the open international university, Recognized by Sealdah Training Society for Medical Research (STSFMR) Kolkata.
Exhausted with the excuses of the principal R. Zinyü and Vice Principal Ayong Phom, who seem least bothered to address the students’ grievances, the students are demanding for refund of the amount incurred during their 3 years course amounting to over Rs. 1.40 lakhs though the vice principal declared around Rs. 40,000, however even then the students are reportedly not in a position to meet the negotiation as they have spent their most valuable time in taking the training and now to go further studies is a lot difficult in terms of monetary and age matter.
The aggrieved parents who were also at the police station said that their children were always denied any job they apply in government sector with the same reason. It was said that the Students, parents/guardians have set for a consultative meeting with NSF officials tomorrow its conference Hall.
