Home Minister, Imkong L. Imchen said the existence of tribalism in Naga society may be because of ignorance and lack of proper civilization, He called upon the Nagas to do away with tribalism by means of collective efforts, saying “earlier the better”.
The home minister inaugurated the magnificent “Molu Ki”, community hall at Merhülietsa Colony Kohima this morning. Addressing the gathering, Imchen said the building being constructed in the state capital; every tribe has the responsibility to beautify the state capital, with collective contribution instead of hovering on tribalism. He pointed out that Naga talks Naga family yet with the existence of tribalism only create hindrance and urged upon the Nagas to ponder the matter seriously. Imchen requested the gathering to let the building be a usage for any community, and treat with equality as the building itself building shows the symbol of unity, to rent out to whoever requires it. He congratulated the Kohima Aor Telongjem, the planning department, Imkonglemba IAS, Convener of the construction, the Kohima Aor Telongjem (KAT) and all the people involved in the construction for bringing up the giant building and urged to treat equally to any tribe in the usage of the building.
Former Chief Minister, Dr. SC Jamir graced the occasion as the guest of honor. The report stated tha
the then Dr. SC Jamir purchased the plot was back in 2003 who also proposed for the construction of community hall.
ACS and Additional Development Commissioner, Alemtemshi Jamir IAS while giving a short speech said that the name Molu Ki means a house of unlimited blessings. He added that the facilities available at Mulo Ki are not only for the Aos but for everyone. President KAT gave the welcome address, while vote of thanks was proposed by General Secretary KAT.
Giving a brief report on the construction of Molu Ki, Commissioner & Secretary School Education, Imkonglemba IAS said that the idea of a multi purpose hall was first brought up in 2001, by the then Chief Minister, Dr. S.C. Jamir. Construction of the building commenced on 3rd June 2009 and was inaugurated on 8th March 2012 with a total cost of Rs. 1.74 Crores and stands on a total plinth area of 1192 sq meters.
The two storied building has a parking space for around 16 light vehicles at the ground floor. The first floor has one VIP suit and three double bed rooms with attached bathrooms. The floor also has a kitchen and a dinning room which can sit 35 to 40 persons. A hall for meetings, ceremonies etc is housed in the second floor of the building which has a capacity for around 800 persons.
Earlier welcome address was delivered by President KAT, while Rev. Asangba pastor, KABA pronounced invocation prayer. Besides the chief guest and the guest of honor, MLA Imkong, government officials, President Angami public organization, colony chairman and many others attended.
