DIMAPUR, MAY 13 (MExn): Nagaland Minister for Health and Family Welfare, Imkong L Imchen today commented on present developments in the NPF by stating, “We have an open mind for consultations and sharing of opinions between the NPF legislators and DAN partners.”
The Minister informed that the NPF central office has given necessary instructions directing party members not to create any unwanted situation with regard to the transition of power. Everything is expected to fall in line in a spirit of cooperation and give and take, he said. “Some section of the people may be interested to see disunity and infighting within the DAN family, but their interest and expectation will not succeed,” he maintained.
Reacting to media reports on former Chief Secretary, Alemtemshi Jamir, Imchen said “I was hurt on the market talks regarding Alemtemshi, Ex-Chief Secretary being implicated in the new transition of power in the event of Neiphiu Rio demitting the office of the Chief Minister of Nagaland.” He said Jamir was unnecessarily implicated on the candidature of Minister for PHE, Noke Wangnao to the CM’s post.
Imchen stated that many succeeding governments have utilized the wisdom and expertise of former Chief Secretaries or retired bureaucrats, as they have been able to handle critical problems and issues in line with the laid down rules and procedures. Imchen added that while some have refused such offers to work in the government, yet many have accepted to help the government in different capacities.
On Alemtemshi, the Minister stated, “I see no wrong if his services are requested by the government because he was not only a head of the state bureaucracy but also a bonafide Naga citizen”. However, he stated that till now there is no such move from any corner to implicate his name and asserted that questioning his integrity is unjustified. “Ones image should not be tarnished unnecessarily or without facts, because such action does not help anybody but can only aggravate the situation,” he added.
