Health Dept issues advisory, public urged to be vigilance
Kohima, January 31 (MExN): The National Vector Borne Disease Control Programme, Directorate of Health & Family Welfare, Nagaland, issued a public advisory today regarding a potential dengue transmission window from January 30 to February 12, 2026, across major districts of the state.
The advisory, issued in public interest, stated that the information is based on projections from the India Meteorological Department, Climate Research and Services, Pune. It cautioned that favourable climatic conditions during this two-week period may enhance mosquito breeding and increase the risk of dengue transmission. The NVBDCP has urged all districts, stakeholders, and communities to remain vigilant and strengthen preventive and control measures.
Seek immediate medical attention in case of symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, pain behind the eyes, joint and muscle pain or rash.
The advisory to the public emphasises strict adherence to preventive measures to reduce the risk of dengue. Citizens are advised to eliminate all sources of stagnant water in and around households, including in flower pots, water containers, and discarded tyres, and to ensure proper covering of all water storage containers.
To prevent mosquito bites, the use of mosquito nets, repellents, and window screens has been recommended. The public is also advised to wear full-sleeved clothing, especially during the early morning and evening hours. The health department has stressed the importance of seeking immediate medical attention in case of symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, pain behind the eyes, joint and muscle pain, or rash.
The NVBDCP has urged all citizens to extend their full cooperation and actively participate in dengue prevention measures to safeguard individual and community health. For further information, the public has been advised to contact their nearest health facility.
