Imkong expulsion issue amicably settled – AICC

Dimapur, August 8 (MExN): The All India Congress Committee (AICC) today said that former Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee president I Imkong has apologized to the president of the AICC Sonia Gandhi and the committee has decreed the issue of the Congress leader’s expulsion from the Congress as “amicably settled.”  Congress Working Committee in-charge of Nagaland Luizinho Faleiro issued a note today. Faleiro stated: “After rounds of discussions and persuasion, Shri I Imkong has now tendered his apology to the honorable Congress president for any action that might have caused embarrassment to her and the Party. He has agreed that he will abide by whatever decision the honorable Congress President may take in order to unite and strengthen the Indian National Congress in Nagaland. The matter has thus been amicably settled.”

“Shri I Imkong’s expulsion from the Congress party by the NPCC was being examined by the AICC from all angles including the imperative of maintaining utmost unity at all levels within the Nagaland State Congress especially when the biggest challenge before the people is the fulfillment of their political, economic, cultural and other aspirations,” the note added.
