Dimapur, February 6 (MExN): The two-day Immanuel College Myriad Fest Vol.4.0 commenced on February 6 at the college premises with the theme Semper ad Meliora.
The inaugural programme was attended by Seyiekhrietuo Solo, NCS, SDO (Civil), Seithekema, Government of Nagaland, as the special guest.
Addressing the gathering, Solo spoke on the importance of being a good human being, stressing that values must guide both personal and professional life. He encouraged students to acquire skills and knowledge beyond textbooks and highlighted the need for practical learning, adaptability and continuous self-education in a fast-changing world.
He also spoke on the importance of kindness and the practice of civic sense, stating that good deeds and kindness may go unnoticed and unspoken but have a ripple effect. Solo pointed out that some of the challenges faced by the administration today include a lack of good leaders, educated people, compassion and civic sense. Observing that students are the leaders of tomorrow, he underscored the need for good, responsible and educated leadership in society and challenged students to take their rightful place as future leaders with integrity, competence and a sense of responsibility.
He further encouraged students to give their best in whatever they do to ensure a better tomorrow. Highlighting the influence of peer groups, he advised students to choose a good circle of friends, noting that one’s company plays a crucial role in shaping character, discipline and life choices.

The highlight of the first day was the crowning of Miss and Mr Myriad. After three competitive rounds, the panelists declared Lino T Aye and Idohingbo Haining as Miss and Mr Myriad. Mhonroni Kithan and Merensashi Kichu were adjudged Miss Congeniality and Mr Personality respectively. The Best Ethnic Wear titles in the female and male categories were awarded to Wangshimongla Jamir and Lamthio.
Day one of the fest also featured an array of events including an Indigenous Food Competition, Art Competition, Voice of Myriad and Poetry Slam, along with a special appearance by Moko Koza.
The inaugural programme was chaired by Imjungla Imchen, Head of the Department of History. The invocation was delivered by Watilemla, Assistant Professor, Department of Botany. The welcome address was delivered by Dr Th. Sharatchandra Singh, Principal, Immanuel College.
