DIMAPUR, AUGUST 29 (MExN): Immanuel College, Dimapur, conducted an Anti-Ragging Awareness Programme under the theme “YaARI – Youth Against Ragging,” an initiative of the College's Anti-Ragging Committee at the College Auditorium. The event was graced by Khekali Y.Sema (NPS), DCP (Crime).

The programme was chaired by Zuchano Khuvung, Convenor of the Anti-Ragging Committee, with the welcome address delivered by Dr T. Imchanochetla Changkija, Vice Principal of the College.

Addressing the gathering as the guest speaker, Khekali Y. Sema spoke on the importance of addressing ragging at its roots by rejecting superiority complexes and embracing diversity. She stressed that every individual—victim, perpetrator, or witness has a role in eradicating ragging.

Highlighting the growing concern of cyber ragging in a digitalised world, she cautioned students about the dangers of leaving a digital footprint. She also outlined the legal consequences of ragging, citing laws such as the Juvenile Justice Act and the IT Act, and emphasised that ragging is not just a disciplinary issue but a punishable offence.

In her concluding remarks, Sema urged students to cultivate self-awareness, empathy, and responsibility to become mature and responsible adults. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Langtopongmei, member of the Anti-Ragging Committee, Immanuel College.
