Implement delimitation without any delay: LSU

Dimapur, June 17 (MExN): The Lotha Students Union (LSU) today called on the people of Nagaland to come together and appeal the Government to implement the process of delimitation for Nagaland.

In a press release on June 17 LSU President Ashanthung Humtsoe and General Secretary Pithungo Shitio stated that the delimitation exercise is “a second chance, to undo our past mistakes with absolute fairness and equity,” and that it will allow the Naga people to look towards a new Nagaland which will be built upon equitable distribution of resources and equal access to opportunity. This, it said, will empower the younger generation to progress, prosper, work and contribute towards the greater interest of the Naga people and the state.

As such, the LSU made a sincere appeal to the public and the decision makers to “stand in the truth and the truth only, by considering facts, logic and rationality to determine the outcome of our delimitation exercise.”

The LSU also put across its observation that the “ideals of honesty, equality and integrity is seemingly becoming extinct in our society and getting replaced with greed, selfishness and corruption,” while adding that “The youths of Nagaland are restless and we will do whatever is necessary to fight for creating a united, progressive, developed and prosperous state.”

Further reiterating that the delimitation is a ‘unique opportunity’ for the marginalized communities affected by irrational distribution of constituency seats as well as the upcoming generation to secure a just future, it appealed all Nagas to unite together and ‘pressure’ the government to implement the delimitation without any further delay.
