The Tsütuonuomia Students’ Union (TSU) has conducted its 9th Annual Literary Day-cum-Felicitation Programme on July 25 under the theme ‘Imprints of Imagination’ at T Khel Indoor Stadium, Kohima village. Over 100 students joined the competition in singing, painting, debate, spelling bee, extempore speech, essay, creative writing, instrumental, quiz and elocution.
Addressing the valedictory programme, MLA Dr Tseilhoutuo (Ato) Rhutso stressed on the need to lay a strong foundation for children’s growth and development.
A good beginning is essential to achieving success, he said and encouraged the students to be dedicated and sincere in their hunt for excellence. “Whatever you do, start by doing what is necessary and what is possible,” he told the students, adding that such approach will help achieve their goals.
T Khel Council General Secretary Thepfuzakie Suohu also exhorted the students. Earlier, PHED Executive Engineer Er Sedevilie Suohu graced the inaugural session.
TSU President Mezhükhriezo Zatsu informed that the top winners of the various competitions will represent TSU at the upcoming 32nd Spero Meliora, scheduled for August 8.
The event was compered by Kiyakhrienuo Solo and Viketouca Belho. Welcome address was delivered by TSU vice president Vilhou Sekhose while vote of thanks was proposed by TSU general secretary Keneipfhelie Phewhuo.
Awards
Meanwhile, TSU Excellence Award in HSLC (Lt Er Ruokuobezizo Solo Memorial Award) was presented to Neilhou Belho of Northfield, Khikha, for securing a Top 7 rank in HSLC examination.
TSU Excellence Award in HSSLC was presented to Keduoneinuo Evelyn of Don Bosco Higher Secondary School in Science stream, Mhalezhünuo Sekhose of Don Bosco Higher Secondary School in the Arts stream and Vibeilie Vincent Solo of Model Higher Secondary School in Commerce stream.
The Union also conferred Gold medals to Thejangunuo Suohu (Masters in Nursing), Mezhülhoutounuo Suhu (Master of Science in Chemistry) and Dr Khrieketounuo Belho for getting PhD degree on thesis title “Geomorphological hazards in Kohima district of Nagaland: A Geospatial Approach.”
The Union also felicitated Medozhanuo Solo, Ketholetuo Solo and Vikerüse Suohu for their success in the NPSC CTSE and NSSB CSRE.
