Dimapur | January 20
The Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) incumbent Nagaland unit President will helm the state unit for another term. The party’s state-wide membership drive and elections to organisational posts, which started in September 2024, culminated on January 20 with the conduct of election to the post of the state President. The election/nomination function was held in Dimapur.
While the party kept a tight leash on information about the election of the state President, sources informed that incumbent Benjamin Yepthomi was elected/nominated unopposed. Yepthomi was the sole candidate who filed nomination for the post. Initially, there were reports of a senior party loyalist, Vice President Hurui Zeliang contending for the post.
The official declaration programme will take place in Kohima on January 20.
