Nine years of Cease-fire, innumerable rounds of talks, many promises and not a single concrete step taken! Almost everyday the media never fails to bombard the public – old and young, rich and poor, educated and the simple, yes, people from all walks of life with news on the Indo-Naga peace process. Surprisingly, a great and powerful nation like India with all her successive Governments at the helm has deliberately chosen not to understand the issue; perhaps she has forgotten the sufferings she underwent under the British Raj, or perhaps she derives a sadistic delight in perpetrating atrocities, or perhaps she thinks that the indigenous Nagas as a nation, is too weak and uncivilized to deserve any lasting solution.
I believe that India, through her delay tactics, is slowly trying to erode the rich natural resources, culture, religion, and identity of the Nagas. This will prove dangerous for India. One day mankind will curse her and nations will abhor her – no one will trust her. We do not challenge India’s political, economic and military might. We cannot. Oh, if India would only understand us and do the right thing – right in the sight of God and in the sight of man. What if the United States of America should step in because she is our spiritual parent? What if Britain should intervene because she feels morally responsible for the present condition of fragmented Nagalim? Or what if China (people of our own race) puts her foot down and says - “That’s enough.”
Nagas will get what they want; it is just a question of time. We have faith in the living God and He will not disappoint us. He has never.
