‘Indigo Children’ winner of The Hornbill National Rock Contest

Kohima | December 7: Indigo Children of New Delhi emerged the winner of The Hornbill National Rock Contest 2011, one of the longest music festivals in the country, held for seven-day-long as a part of the hornbill festival here at Indira Gandhi Stadium. The winning band walked off with a cash of Rs 5 Lakhs along with musical instruments.
Grammy Winning Effort, New Delhi and Girish & the Chronicle from Gangtok, Sikkim, occupied the second and third positions respectively who were also awarded with a cash of Rs. 3.5 lakhs and Rs 2.5 lakhs.
The individual winners were awarded with a cash of Rs. 30,000 each with musical instrunments. Altogether 24 music bands from across the country participated in the national level music contest. Judges of the event includes Thejove, Dr. Wabang and Rajkumar Sengupta from Kolkata.
Dosser Urge (Shillong), Grammy Winning Effort (New Delhi), Final Surrender (Bengaluru, Karnataka), Girish & The Chronicle (Gangtok, Sikkim), Arcane Deception (New Delhi), Noiseware (Pune, Maharashtra), Sunep Assemble Band (Nagaland), Indigo Children (New Delhi) and Wolf’s Lair (Chennai, Tamil Nadu) were among the 9 finalist of the coveted contest.

2nd Prize – Rs.3.5 Lacs -Grammy Winning Effort, New Delhi
3rd Prize – Rs.2.5 Lacs - Girish & The Chronicles from Gangtok Sikkim
