Kohima, June 12 (MExN): The Department of Industries & Commerce, Government of Nagaland, in collaboration with the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Government of India, organised a Capacity Building Programme for officials and applicants under the UNNATI 2024 scheme on June 11 and the SAMVAD (Investor and Industry Outreach) Programme on June 12.
According to a press release, the first day of the programme was held at the Conference Hall of the Directorate of Industries & Commerce, Kohima, and focused on capacity building for officials and applicants under the UNNATI scheme. The programme was conducted by Assistant Director Ikheshe Kahoto, while the welcome address was delivered by Director of Industries & Commerce P Tokugha Sema.
Resource persons from DPIIT, including Karampaul Singh, Sandeep Srivastava, Amit Yadav and Simrat Singh, conducted sessions on the UNNATI claim application process, portal-based claim filing, document verification, claim processing stages, and common reasons for claim rejection or delays. The programme also featured interactive discussions, case studies and a help desk session to provide practical guidance to participants.
On June 12, an official review meeting was held at Hotel De Oriental Grand, Kohima, between DPIIT and the Department of Industries & Commerce, Government of Nagaland. DPIIT was represented by Under Secretary Arun Kumar Vishwakarma, while the state government delegation was led by Additional Secretary Samson Sekhose, along with departmental officials and representatives from banks and financial institutions.
During the review meeting, participants discussed issues and challenges related to the North East Industrial and Investment Promotion Policy (NEIIPP), the North East Industrial Development Scheme (NEIDS), and the UNNATI scheme.
The meeting was followed by the SAMVAD (Investor and Industry Outreach) Programme, which brought together government officials, representatives of banks and financial institutions, entrepreneurs and prospective investors.
The welcome address was delivered by Joint Director of Industries & Commerce Cholzo Sophie, while the keynote address was delivered by Arun Kumar Vishwakarma. Inspector of Industries & Commerce Imsongmeren Imsong delivered the vote of thanks.
Discussions during the outreach programme focused on investment opportunities in Nagaland, industry facilitation measures, ease of doing business initiatives and mechanisms to address challenges faced by investors and enterprises. The programme reaffirmed the state's commitment to promoting industrial growth and attracting investment, the release stated.
