
Kohima, Aug 18: Replying to a starred question posed by MLA, Tiameren on Inner Line Permit check gates, Home Minister Thenucho replied that there are 6 check gates located in different districts for checking of Inner Line Permit. Name of the check gates indicating the district are:
1. Dimapur
(a) Chumukedima
2. Mokokchung
(a) Tsutapela
(b) Amguri
3. Mon
(a) Tizit
(b) Naginimora
4. Wokha
(a) Bhandari
He informed the house that no Inner Line Act has been introduced in Nagaland and as such the entire State could be covered by the Inner Line Act. He informed that the 1925 Notification under Bengal Eastern Frontier Regulation 1873 is still being followed, which do not include the Dimapur foothill areas.
Stating that the Government is aware of infiltrators who are not possessing Inner Line Permit, he said that as and when defaulters are detected, action is taken under section 3 BEFR.
On remedial measures undertaken by the State Government for finding infiltrators from the list of general population, he replied that instructions have been issued to Dimapur Administration to detect and remove the names of infiltrators from the census and electoral rolls, if they are found to be foreigners.
On the seriousness of the State Government about the alarming situation of illegal immigrants, he replied that the Government reviews the status regarding illegal immigrants from time to time through a committee headed by the Chief Secretary and that strict instructions have been given to the District Administration and Police to conduct checks regularly and to take action against defaulters.
