Intensive Pulse Polio Immunisation held

40,097 children  vaccinated in Dimapur

Tuensang, January 19 (MExN): Tuensang district observed Polio Sunday on January 19 with a total of 245 booth centres, 49 supervisors and 980 vaccinators. The inaugural programme was held at District Hospital Tuensang with Sushil Kumar Patel, IAS, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Tuensang administering the first two drops of Polio.

A press release received here state that Sushil Kumar lauded the district medical faculty staff headed by the deputy CMO and District Programme officer (DPO) RCH for effectively taking up the Polio Immunization campaign. He emphasized on the steps initiated by the Government of India in preventing the disease through immunization and social mobilization campaign to eradicate the dreadful disease. Earlier, Dr. Hatling, Assistant M.S, District Hospital in her welcome address briefed about the activities carried out in the district to prevent polio.  

The first round of Intensive Pulse Polio Immunization (IPPI) campaign will be followed up with house-to-house visit till January 21, 2014 in the district.

Dimapur: Dimapur also joined the rest of the country in organizing Intensive Pulse Polio Immunisation (IPPI) Sunday at District hospital which was graced by SDO (C), Dr Kadambari. Altogether, a total of 40,097 children were administered polio drops on the first day. Sunday’s turn up was in response to a target group (0-5 years) which falls at 53,169 in the district out of a total population of 3,79,769. For the next two days, a team from the medical department would be making house-to-house visit in and around Dimapur for administering more Polio drops to children below five years.
