Kiphire, January 12 (MExN): The Inter-Club T20 Tournament 2026 organised by the Kiphire District Cricket Association (KDCA), under the aegis of the Nagaland Cricket Association, is underway at the Public Ground, Kiphire.
According to a press release, the tournament commenced on January 8 and will continue till January 13, bringing together cricket clubs from across the district.
The tournament aims to strengthen grassroots cricket, nurture young talent and promote teamwork and unity among players and communities, it said.
KDCA Treasurer Andrew C Sangtam stated that the tournament has been progressing smoothly, with the organising team working to ensure the efficient conduct of each match.
He added that the competition was not only about winning trophies but also about inspiring local youth to take cricket seriously.
KDCA President Justin Khatomong said the tournament is helping identify promising players who could advance to higher levels of the sport. “This is to encourage our district players and give them a chance to grow and shine,” he said.
Meanwhile, Longtili C Sangtam, official umpire of the KDCA, encouraged players and officials to maintain fair play and professional match conduct throughout the tournament.
The KDCA also expressed appreciation to supporters, clubs, sponsors and well-wishers for their cooperation, which it said has made the tournament possible, and invited the public to continue supporting the remaining matches.
