Inter-school literary contest held in Mon Town

Mon Town Students’ Union (MTSU) organised an inter-school literary competition at Council Hall, Mon on October 7.  

Dr. Chenjei Konyak, Medical Officer, Mon, speaking on the occasion as chief guest said the present students are very fortunate generation as they can access everything on internet apart from the classroom teaching by their teachers. He told the students their creativity and hard labour will make them successful in life. “Understanding the concept of the topic of the lesson is more important than just memorizing,” he added.  

R. Supongbenba Ao of St. Mary School, Rasna Begam H of Christ King School and P. Yeingam of Rastra Bhasha Hindi Institute secured first, second and third position respectively in the debate competition.  

Yinai and Minching of Konjong Hr. Secondary School, Pholang and Lomwang of St. John Hr. Secondary School, and Pangkhong and Ngonlei of GHSS ‘C’ were the first, second and third winners respectively of quiz competition.  

Meanwhile, the painting competition winners were Angche Konyak of Green Valley School, Khampei T Konyak of Christ King School, and Mannyei of GHSS ‘D’ respectively.  

Manle M Konyak of Christ King School, Nahchong of Don Bosco Hr. Secondary School, and M. Seiwang of St. John Hr. Secondary School emerged as winners in essay competition.  

In extempore speech, Nyangpong of Little Flower School, Phamyim of Eastern School, and Phaiba Kossam M of Christ King School secured first, second and third place respectively.  

Altogether, 16 schools, both government and private, of Mon Town participated in the competitions.
