PUNGRO, OCTOBER 11 (MExN): The valedictory programme of the Inter-School Sports Meet 2025, organized by the Pungro Sports Association (PSA), concluded successfully at the Public Ground, Pungro Town, on Saturday.
The four-day event, held under the theme “From School to Sports Star: Nurturing Young Talents, Building Bright Future,” saw enthusiastic participation, notable performances, and messages promoting the role of sports in youth development.
Special Guest Tsupithong Yimchunger, Economic and Statistical Officer (ESO), Department of School Education, Government of Nagaland, graced the valedictory function. In his address, he highlighted that sports has emerged as a promising career and a growing global industry, noting that professional athletes today earn more than many government employees worldwide.
He urged students to balance academics with sports and called on citizens to support budding athletes, adding that “there are so many hidden potentialities in the Pungro area waiting to be nurtured.”
The welcome address was delivered by Rasuka, Vice President of PSA, while the vote of thanks was proposed by Lenpithong, Member of the association.
The programme was attended by pastors, teachers, church leaders, community organisations (CSOs), parents, and guardians, with a total participation of 3,711 students, making it one of the most vibrant gatherings in recent years.
Trophies, medals, and certificates were presented to winners, runners-up, and all participants in recognition of their commitment, teamwork, and discipline throughout the games.
The programme concluded with the lowering of the flag and the singing of the National Anthem, marking the official closure of the Inter-School Sports Meet 2025.
