The first-ever All Nagaland Private Schools Association (ANPSA) Under-14 Sepaktakraw Tournament in Mokokchung district was successfully conducted today at the Multi-Purpose Sports Complex, organized by the, ANPSA Mokokchung Unit, in collaboration with the Department of Youth Resources & Sports, Government of Nagaland. The tournament saw participation from three schools: Queen Mary Higher Secondary School, Hillview Higher Secondary School, and Christian Residential Higher Secondary School.

In his inaugural address, Joshua Longkumer, President of ANPSA Mokokchung Unit, highlighted the growing significance of Sepaktakraw in Nagaland. He said, “Sepaktakraw, or kick volleyball, is still in its infancy in Nagaland compared to some other sports. But what matters is not how long we have been playing, but how deeply we believe in its potential. Even in this period of growth, we have seen that Sepaktakraw has brought pride not only to our State but also to India on the international stage. Today’s tournament is a very important stepping stone. It is here that seeds will be sown — seeds of confidence, skill, teamwork, and sportsmanship.”

Longkumer further encouraged the young athletes, saying, “For many of you, this may be your first time representing your school or community in this sport. Take every match, every set, every point as an opportunity — to learn, to grow, and to push yourselves. All the best to the winning teams that will represent our district at the State Level Sepaktakraw Competition in Kohima.”

After a day of competitive matches, Hillview Higher Secondary School emerged as the winners in the boys’ category, while Queen Mary Higher Secondary School claimed the girls’ title.
