Kohima, September 28 (MExN): The International Day of Older Persons will be observed on 1st October, jointly organized by the Department of Social Welfare, Nagaland, Health & Family Welfare, Nagaland and Nagaland Senior Citizens Forum under the theme, “Health Care for Senior Citizens”. The occasion will be marked by organizing walkathon and public function at the State level at Kohima where two distinguished persons (male & female) will be awarded.
The state level function will be graced by Parliamentary Secretary, Housing, Labour & Employment Er. Saku Aier as the chief guest who will also flag off the walkathon at 7:00 AM at the Old MLA Hostel junction that will end up at the Heritage (Old DC Banglow), Kohima which will be immediately followed by State level function. The main function will be held at the Heritage where various entertainment items will display.
Similar functions are also being organized at District HQs and all Block HQs under the active initiative of Deputy Commissioners, Chief Medical Officers, District Welfare Officers, District Programme Officers and Child Development Project Officers. Free medical camps will be held for the senior citizens in all the Block HQs.
