•-The recent issue of seizure of fake goods at Hazi Park Market in Dimapur may be a simple routine case of seize of illicit goods, but if this issue is not seriously viewed then it would bring about negative impact to our younger generation and the society as a whole, in future.
The issue has now become as clear as crystal since it was from the New Delhi’s court order, the Company’s lawyers (L’Oreal & Garnier) who along with government counsels after due permission from Police and District Administration of Dimapur seized the fake goods in the presence of one DMC Advisor (In-charge Quality Control).
This issue of fake goods is serious because using fake goods, especially cosmetics would cause many health hazards, for example skin cancer.
However, the subsequent protest by some union or association while carrying out the raid by the team shows that these union or association were aware of the presence of such fake goods, therefore they tried their level best to hide such malpractices, which are carried out by few vested businessmen. This incident also exposed the harsh reality that such union or association harbor such vested businessmen, for reason best known to them.
Rather than expelling those vested businessmen who were caught selling fake goods, these unions or associations tried exceptionally to deviate the issue from fake goods to alleged assault. Nevertheless, Nagas are well aware of the presence of fake goods at Hazi Park Market before this incident so these unions and association should not try to defend those vested businessmen, rather they should expel those businessmen.
In this regard, I would humbly request the Dimapur Municipal Council to initiate necessary action against those businessmen who were caught red handed while selling fake goods. The Dimapur Municipal Council should immediately cancel their trade licenses and set an example so that other vested businessmen would not dare to sell fake goods in future.
I would further earnestly request the Chief Secretary and the Home Commissioner of Nagaland to draft some set of rules and regulations so that mushrooming of unwanted unions and associations should be checked. Also, such unions and associations should not be allowed to create nuisance while doing public service.
Further, the authenticity of such unions and associations should be checked regularly, for example term of office bearers, elections, constitution of the unions and association etc.
