Several months have passed but no signs of assurance from the government. DAN government led by Neiphiu Rio always talk about the welfare, social, economic and educational development of the Eastern Nagas, but I wonder how much pressure does his government need to redress even their one grievance? United Sangtam Students Conference supported by ENSF and later by ENPO, pointed out as to how one NCS Officer was appointed by acquiring false documents and their demand to immediately sack him. Few days back in some of the dailies, Chief Secretary Lalthara pointed out the rules and regulations for issuing Schedule Tribe, Backward Tribe and Indigenous Inhabitant Certificates.
When there is already laid down rules and regulations as to how such certificates should be issued, I am really surprised how the concerned Deputy Commissioner/ADC issued such certificates to the concerned Officer without proper verification? Not only that, I also want to point out one more NCS Officer of 2008 batch, now posted in Medziphema, who by look itself even a student of class-A can tell that he is not a Naga, but I am very much surprised to see in this case also the DC/ADC issuing him such certificates.
We cannot blame the NPSC members for recommending them to such post when they have got documentary evidence. The concerned DC/ADC who issued such certificates to them should be investigated and severely dealt with. I have no personal enmity on anyone, but the very fact that the birth right of the original Naga students being eaten away by those so called Adopted Nagas, half-Nagas, Duplicate Nagas or non-Nagas by blood, this I cannot tolerate. That day is not far when many like them taking their example will claim for such certificates and the government would be left with no option.
I agree with K.Therie, former Finance Minister when few days back in the media, regarding power crisis in Nagaland, especially Dimapur, he said “DAN lacked political vision, commitment and capacity”. Very true, not only in power sector but also in administration, for if they have commitment, capacity, vision, capability, this issue would never crop up, even if they do they should have solved it long ago, but since they don’t have the capability, commitment, capacity, it is being left unattended, falling on deaf ears in spite of such huge hue and cry from the concerned students organization.
May I remind the government that those tainted non-Naga NCS Officers will in the near future be issuing such certificates when they become DC/ADC? Can we expect them to be fair in issuing such certificates when they themselves got it through corrupt means? Instead of giving unnecessary excuses or doing BLAME GAME or having war of words in the media, if the DAN government wants to prove K.Therie wrong, then do something even to this case and let the public decide who is wrong, remember “ACTION SPEAK LOUDER THAN WORDS”.
Being a Students Organization, I would like to know from the esteemed office of the Naga Students Federation what their stand is on this issue? I also want to hear from the Honorable Chief Minister itself at the earliest what action his government will be taking to those tainted NCS Officers or taken and also those concerned DC/ADC for issuing such certificates without proper verification. Is anyone listening????
