Jakhama, September 16 (MExN): St Joseph’s College (Autonomous), Jakhama celebrated its 35th Graduation Day at the College Indoor Stadium on September 16. The special guest, Prof Jagadish Kumar Patnaik, Vice Chancellor of Nagaland University was accompanied by N Albert Khizo, Finance Officer of Nagaland University.
In his welcome address, Principal Dr Fr George Keduolhou Angami called on the graduates to become the best version of themselves, remain committed to personal goals, and reminded them that the greatest leaders are those who create more leaders, stated a press release.
Delivering the message and blessings to the graduates, Guest of Honour Most Rev Dr James Thoppil, Bishop of Kohima and Chairman of SJC (A), encouraged the students to be catalysts in society, to face challenges with courage, and to move forward with pride in their achievements and confidence in their abilities.
Speaking on behalf of the graduates, Best Graduate Tokabo Katty of the Department of Economics affirmed that God’s plans are always greater than human expectations.
Addressing the gathering, Prof Patnaik reminded the graduates that life beyond academics would bring new challenges. He stressed that employment should not be viewed as limited to government or private sectors alone. “Employment is not only what is given to you, but also what you create for yourself,” he said. Highlighting the growing importance of artificial intelligence and technology, he urged the students to embrace innovation, adapt to changing times, and use their knowledge in service of society.
He encouraged them to step forward with resilience, confidence, and a deep sense of responsibility to their communities.
The programme also featured cultural performances, special songs, and the distribution of certificates and souvenirs, before concluding with the College Anthem.
