Peren, July 23(MExN): Jalukie Town the commercial hub of Peren district is experiencing rapid onslaught of redress of town planning under the initiative of the current Jalukie Town Council (JTC) who are taking pains to demolish obstructing houses and undertaking sanitation drives. The well laid ‘Blue Print’ of town-plan of the past have been encroached upon and exploited by individuals. Taking cognizant of this, the Jalukie Town Council has demolished and dismantled four houses so far. Also, to improve sanitation of the town, a 2 kilometers drainage system has been also constructed 24 feet away from main road. Other initiatives undertaken include a number of garbage dumps and dust bins which have been constructed and placed along the main market lane of the town. The works are being sponsored under the aegis of the 12th Finance Commission.
Besides, 10 ring wells, waiting sheds and a one kilometer stretch of new circular road within the town was constructed under the state’s DUDA’s Fund. Drawing the attention of the public, Gaubeu Rangkau, Chairman of the JTC has urged the citizens of the town to cooperate in the implementation of such developmental works as well as towards those which are on the anvil.
The general public has also expressed deep gratitude to the present JTC members for their unflinching efforts and dedication towards the welfare of the people. It may be pertinent to add that Jalukie Town which was inaugurated as a Sub-Divisional headquarter in 1966 by the then Chief Minister P Shilu Ao and Chief Secretary L Lungalang was formally upgraded to a full fledged town after a hiatus of 39 years on 12th January 2005 and at present, it is manned by nine elected members and two nominated members of the town council.
The town which is encircled by some 10-15 kilometers stretch of road has excellent inter-road connectivity within and possesses the potentiality of converting it into a concrete well-planned city more or less.
