JCPI clarification on ILP drive

Dimapur, March 7 (MExN): The Joint Committee on Prevention of Illegal Immigrants (JCPI) on Saturday issued a clarification on the reported ILP drive conducted by the Dimapur District Administration on February 27.

It said that the District Administration imposing fines “on the pretext of one or the other reason” was “untimely” considering that, the December 9, 2019, notification had given 90 days to obtain ILP for people requiring it, and the JCPI's ultimatum is still pending.

JCPI also said that it held a joint meeting with Dimapur Deputy Commissioner on March 3 and agreed to have better and mutual coordination for effective implementation of ILP.

In a meeting with the Chief Secretary, Government of Nagaland on the same day JCPI reiterated its March 15, 2020 deadline to set December 1, 1963 as cut off year for RIIN and implement ILP based on RIIN cut-off year, the statement read.

The JCPI also reminded the Chief Secretary to set up of the Foreigners Tribunals as per Foreigners Act, 1946 and to physically implement ILP with necessary infrastructures, modalities and standard operating procedures as per the new guidelines, it added.
