Through your esteem local daily, I the undersigned on behalf of the Joie De Vivre (JDV) Phek would like to bring out the following statement of apology to the Programme personnel of ‘2007 SEKRENYI FESTIVAL VAGANZA’ Celebration scheduled at Phek Village on 15th Jan. ’07. The JDV further clarified the concrete outcome of regret for the same as stated under.
Sir, the said celebration was purposely taken up under the initiative of JDV which is supposed to organize of its kind for the second time as was organized on 15th Jan. ’05 under the proposed celebration of “JOIE DE VIVRE Presents SEKRENYI EXTRAVAGANZA 2005” on the theme, “Make Friendship through sports” with Mr. Hukhoneyi Soho, President, HULO CLUB, Phek as the Declarer Guest, and subsequently two prominent sports clubs, viz., Victorious Club, Phek and Bros’ United, Phek exhibited a friendly football match, besides, folk songs and other indigenous presentations were being featured. The 2005 celebration outcome was appreciated by everyone including the various NGOs with no criticism. However to our surprise and shock, this 2007 proposed celebration programmed was extremely opposed and objected by the village Council and other major NGOs in the Village at the last hour.
The JDV with the intention of creating an awareness to the youngsters the importance and necessity of having a practical knowledge the Age-old culture and traditional heritage of our forefathers, had a meeting on 3rd December 2006 and subsequently resolved to organize a special Vaganza under the proposed celebration of “2007 SEKRENYI FESTIVAL VAGANZA ON INDIGENOUS TRADITIONAL EVENTS” on the occasion of Chakhesang major festival day (15th January 2007) under the theme “RESTRUCTURING AGED-OLD CULTURE.”
The said celebration programme including the following persons as programme personnel was already dispatched on 28th December 2006 onwards: Mr. Sovenyi, P.S. to Minister Home, Vety. & Animal Husbandry & Election, Govt. of Nagaland as Chief Guest in the Inaugural Function, Colonel S.S. Patil, Commandant 33rd Assam Rifles Phek as the Special Guest in the Awards Distribution Ceremony, Mr. Chivotso, President NPF Phek Division as Cash Award Chief Sponsor along with the following Dignitaries as co-sponsor – 1) Mr. Kupota, Chairperson PTC, 2) Mr. Kudeyi Huire, PS to Agri. Minister, 3) Mr. Yeveyi, DCO Phek, 4) Mr. Vehuta, President NPF 19th Phek A/C, 5) Mr. Chovose, Ist Class Contractor, 6) Mr. Khriesazo, Director ELF Phek, 7) Mr. Thupuvezo, Social Activist, 8) Mr. Shenutso VCC Phek, 9) Mr. Ezo, VDB Secy. Phek Village, 10) Mr. Kuzhosheyi, Social Activist, 11) Mr. Chivozo, VCM Phek Village, and 12) Vekhonieyi, Social Activist. All the above Dignitaries were confirmed programme personnels.
The printed and dispatched programme highlights includes the following traditional games competition. 1) Chichi Küva – Male, 2) Chülü Küthi – Female, 3) Lücie Küva (Bamboo Catapult) – Male, 4) Lücie Küva (General) – Male. Approximately a sum of Rs. 11,400/- was estimated for the Cash prizes of the above disciplines. 29 persons were assigned to be the panel of the competition judges during the Vaganza celebration. All the above competition items were confirmed to be displayed by the Phek Village MULEKOs (Festive Clubs) on the recommendation of the Phek Village MULEKO Union except competition item No. 4.
Sir, we (JDV), the organizer are indeed indebted to Mrs. & Mr. Azo Nienu for bearing all the expenses of Programme and Certificate print-outs including other miscellaneous expenditures. Though the flying feature programme has to be cancelled at the last hour with no alternative options on our side for the Village Council express opposed to our proposals inspite of repeated pleas to them so as to carry out the same in any alternative ways. The JDV prayed that Almighty with bless him in manifold besides double his treasure although his contribution towards the celebration was in vain at the last hour.
So as to give a clear statement from the organizer (JDV) side, following the unexpected situations that arose on the following occasion. As stated earlier, 28th December 2006 onwards the printed programme was started disbursing to the programme personnel with no criticism from any corner. Besides on 1st January 2007 the JDV approached VCC Phek Village, President Youth Society Phek Village (PVYS) with an intention of seeking their co-operation for the successful implementation of the celebration, and indeed to our immense joy the response was positively responded with some sort of advice. Likewise, the same was conveyed to the Phek Students’ Union (PSU) informally. And in their response to our correspondence, though they cannot turn up for the assignment as was assigned to them in the programme on 2nd January 2007 and subsequently President PSU informed our Office that their Official presence will be intimated on the day.
Taking the advantage of positive response from every corner, we (JDV) the organizer hurriedly undertook all the necessary measures and preparations so as to celebrate the said Vaganza in a grand success. And thus with the co-operation and good team work of the organizer and well wishers our preparations were almost completed (85%) on 5th January 2007 before 12 Noon. However, to our shock, at around 5:30 PM on the same day VCC Phek called me up and informed me that some organizations were objecting the celebration of the proposed Vaganza and urged me to find some amicable solutions so as to cancel the programme. I, indeed with no hesitation agreed to consult my Colleagues with the given proposal. Conveying the said proposal to my esteemed members we had a conclusion mandate resolved out to once more approach the Village Council and was subsequently carried out the same on 6th January 2007 to have an understanding deliberations among council members, addressing our grievances and hardships of canceling programme, since the programme was well publicized even to our neighbouring villages and well wishers from further more as well, also the time and service rendered up, physically and financially both the organizers and the participating units etc.
Anxiously expecting positive recommendations of our plea, sadly the negative response came to our office on 8th January 2007 morning with strong wave of objection to our proposed celebration.
Dear well Wishers and Readers, it’s our (JDV) humble apologies that please do stand by us at this hour of frustration. Our special apology is highly beg to our confirmed Chief Guest, Special Guest, Sponsors, entrustees, Programme personals, specially Phek Village MULEKOs and all the citizens from far and near who stood by us in all our endeavours. We also beg our apology to Village Council, PSU, PVYS and other NGOs in Phek Village and also do pray that you all will forgive us in our past deeds that have blocked your ways, besides hurting your sentiments as well.
In concluding part of our write-up, we openly remark our deeds as false deed, our acting as childish act, our decision as premature, our knowledge as half-learned, our proposed as blocked proposed, our contribution as priceless, our approach as destructive approach, etc. also we convey our gratitude to Village Council Phek and other concerned NGOs for educating us with good and valuable perspective. After realizing all those weaknesses and shortcomings we (JDV) decided to step down along with our proposal and render our full co-operation towards the mature decision so as to build up unity among ourselves. May Almighty enrich you all with suitable and applicable awards in respect of your good deeds you have rendered out. Once again we invoke all our blessings to all the conformed programme personnel. Let’s all pray that the Almighty would grant us the day (15th January) as a blessed day. Our last appeal is that if our write-up has hurt the sentiments of anyone we beg your forgiveness. May you all begin a prosperous year 2007.
