Through the selfless efforts of the FNR (Forum for Naga Reconciliation) the present respite in Nagaland is a manifestation and fulfillment of the longing and cry of our people for peace and unity in our land. However a lot of questions are raised by the people over the proposed plan of Muivah’s journey in Nagaland. Under this atmosphere it is necessary to study the matter in its proper perspective and remove the present commotion arising out of it. Also every sensible person need to deduce the reality without any inhibition.
In Naga way of life we are all equals and free people. There is no obstruction nor is there the need for permission by anybody to visit one’s ancestral village or any part of Nagaland. What matters here is whether it is an invitation by the people or it is an imposition of one’s will on the people. It is for Muivah to express himself transparently and it is the concern of our people to understand whether his visit is in the true spirit of love, peace and brotherhood or he has got some hidden agenda behind the screen. Repetition of the past history may be something which is not new to the Nagas. Accidents and tragedies are rare but intentional victimizing of the people are many which Naga way of life might refuse to bury lightly.
Since the signing of the covenant of Reconciliation by Chairman Isac Chishi Swu, GPRN, NSCN, Chairman Khaplan, NSCN, GPRN and Brig. (Retd) S Singnya, kedahge, FGN, Nagas are eagerly looking forward to permanent peace and tranquility in our land from the deepest of our hearts and long for the fulfillment of the aspiration of our people for freedom. No one must be a deterrent any more to the common cause of the Nagas. We need to learn from the past experiences of polarizing individual ambitions and sectarian agenda.
At this juncture what can be the message of Muivah to our people. Reconciliation process is going on and on the other hand Muivah is giving more importance to his journey in Nagaland. Deploying his armed cadres openly in the name of security measure is a violation of the covenant of Reconciliation. Can there be any hidden designs to derail the reconciliation process? If there is a Wolf in a Lamb’s skin lurking among us we must be careful and avoid ourselves to be its feed.
When Muivah is a Naga leader, it is confusing why he must seek the permission of the Govt. of India (GOI) to visit his ancestral home. Over and above it, does it befit Naga Nationalism to deploy Indian Army to be his personal security force even in is very own Nagaland. These and issues of the like require transparency to remove any harmful doubts that may linger in the minds of our people.
Without careful study of the matter, many ignorant Nagas will be making themselves cheer leaders of Muivah’s journey. Let everyone look and ask one’s self whether the wound in your body is completely healed or the thorn in your heart is still pricking. This write up must not be an obstacle to the reconciliation of the Nagas but the need for transparency and frankness has to be stressed at this juncture.
Despite thirty years of mistrust and accusations, hatred and animosity, fratricidal killings and stagnation of Naga National progress, it is a welcome note if Muivah is sincere to admit where he had been wrong. If Muivah meant that he got his political inspiration from the NNC and if he retract his condemnation of AZ Phizo, there is no need for further confrontation. The Shillong Accord of 1975, the theme on which partition of the nation was pivoted in 1980 need no longer be a barrier to Naga unity. Each and every Naga is equal and a responsible player in the National cause under the NNC, the institution of the Nagas.
Reality can never be twisted in anyway by any body any longer but in truth and unity we shall overcome/
