Kiphire-Tuensang District Sumi Students Union marks 25th anniversary

Unveiling the monolith of the 25th anniversary of the Kiphire-Tuensang District Sumi Students Union (KTDSSU) at Sitimi town as special guest, the Secretary, Finance and Land Resources Department, Kikheto Y Sema (IAS) said, “in Nagaland every organisation celebrate jubilee with erection of jubilee stone with beautiful inscription but there is not much healing.” He asserted that jubilee is the time to forgive and look forward with new vision.
Addressing the gathering Kikheto said, “There are no Nagas in Nagaland because we are divided by tribe, geography and clan” and appealed the gathering to reason together to march forward.
Calling upon the gathering, Kikheto said, before judging other we have to judge our self and in that way we will be able to be bridge the gap if there is any with our neighbours or tribes and thus, we will be able to live up to the theme of the anniversary ‘Foreword with new vision.’
Appealing to the youths and the student’s community, the secretary also expressed concern stating, “The world is moving really fast and in this fast moving world, one need to have strong relation with the Lord. Only then we will be able to fit in this fast moving world and we will also grow spiritually and socially.”
“Talking of our history and our rights along will take us nowhere rather that will take us back and might bring more destruction and disunity,” he said while appealing the gathering to look forward with new vision to bring unity and prosperity.
Sharing his dream of new Nagaland, Kikheto also said, the new Nagaland will be possible only if we are honest, truthful and not to cheat in election only then new Nagaland can be established and that is possible. He made an appeal to the gathering to play and active role in building new Nagaland.
Stressing on the importance of culture and tradition, the secretary also advised the students to hold strongly on to the culture which is the core principals of life. “If one loses the culture that is the day one has lost ones identity.”
Appealing the students to shun violence and heartedness, the secretary also appealed to the student community gathered to sow the seed of peace so that healing and reconciliation starts from there.
SKK, President, Atokiho speaking at the occasion said that peace and good-will should be the foundation of anniversary. He called upon the gathering to replace might and force with respect and honour.
The president also appealed the student community to have better co-ordination with different communities and neighbours so that they contribute collectively for the progress of Naga society. He also requested the elders present to lead the youngsters with the principals of truth and honest.
Bothuka Yepthomi President KTDSSU welcomed the gathering while Lemika Yepthomi recited poem and Kashito Kiba presented special song. Other highlights of the programme were Aphilo Kuwo by Sitimi Phughi, Lechole by Phisami Ghami, Ayekuzule by Lukhmi ghami and Aqhedu Kumgho by Aloka Kumtsu.
