July 4, 2013 Dimapur murder

LLT censure
CFSL Kolkata

DIMAPUR, FEBRUARY 19 (MExN): The Longkhum Lanur Telongjem (LLT) has condemned the “inefficient management and nonfunctioning” of the Central Forensic Science Laboratory, Kolkata, in connection to investigation of the July 4 Dimapur murder case. A press note from the LLT expressed concern that since July 2003, the laboratory has been running without a chemical reagent, required to proceed with examination of the DNA samples with regard to the said case.

“The hopes of the common people are belied when justice is delayed and the responsible government and authorities fiddle,” stated the LLT. It added that the “tardiness, inefficient management and non functioning on part of the CFSL (K) defeats the directive of the Supreme Court of India for speedy trial and justice in all such criminal cases.”

The LLT further called for Government of India and the Supreme Court to take Suo Motu cognizance of the current situation and initiate necessary action and corrective measures at CFSL (K), in order to “restore the faith of the common people in the government’s machineries for true and speedy justice.”
