JVCC resolves on Kohima-Bokajan Road project

Kohima, August 18 (MExN): A joint meeting of village leaders and elders from inter-district villages under Niuland, Tseminyu, Wokha, and Kohima was held at Niuland Town on August 14.

The meeting, attended by representatives from Hovishe, Ghotovi, Yankeli, Logwesunyu, Tsogin, Gwachonlo, and Tsosinyu Phekerkriema (Basa & Bawe) villages, unanimously reaffirmed to strengthen the common platform of the “Joint Village Coordination Committee (JVCC)” as resolved on September 11, 2024.

A statement issued by JVCC Convenor, Khrehulie and Secretary, Kivigho Zhimo stated that the council resolved to uphold its earlier representation to the PWD (R&B) Minister, stating that no village council or individual shall demand land compensation for the existing Kohima-Bokajan road (Niuland-Zadima via Ghotovi).

Additionally, the JVCC resolved that no individual or Naga Political Group (NPG) shall impose demands or taxes on the contractor, ensuring an obstruction-free work environment.
The Joint Village Council also resolved to fully assist the Contractor at all times until the completion of the work, in order to enable timely completion.

A meeting with the concerned department and contractor will be held once the work tender is issued, it added.
