KADTA to resume sand supply from December 1

Dimapur, November 28 (MExN): The Karbi Anglong Dimapur Transporter Association (KADTA) following a joint meeting with Silveta Sand Mahaldar Welfare Association (SSMWA) and Bakalia Sand Mahaldar Welfare Society (BSMWS) has resolved to resume sand supply.

The meeting was held along with drivers and owners of sand suppliers at Lahorijan, 6th Miles Karbi Anglong on November 27. “After deliberating an hour, it has agreed to resume the supply of sand from December 1, 2022 at Manja Route,” KADTA, President, Anil Toppo and General Secretary, Nito Sumi stated in a press release.

The KADTA stated that earlier on November 10, the Sand Stockist and Suppliers’ Union (SSSUD), Assam Sand Supply and Truck Owner Association (ASSTOA) and Chumukedima Sand Stockiest and Sand Supplier Union (CSSSSU) had called ban on sand supply “without any reason and till date no positive response.”

KADTA, SSMWA and BSMWS have requested the district administration and law enforcement agency to look into the matter and give free passage to sand laden truck within Dimapur and Chümoukedima districts.

Further, the association cautioned the SSSUD, ASSTOA and CSSSSU “not to harass the sand laden truck which is not under their union or member; if anything happens to drivers of sand laden truck, the said union or association will be held responsible.”

The local “bonafide” truck owners of Dimapur have been requested to resume transporting sand in the interest of general public. “For any inquiry one may contact 9612988113 for further details,” KADTA president added.

Meanwhile, KADTA had elected office bearers with Y Kikato as Vice President; HN Sema: Joint Secretary; and Khetoshe Swu and Khevishe Yeptho as Executive Member.

The KADTA has also called a meeting on November 30 at Lahorijan Tata Parking, Karbi Anglong at 3:00pm and requested all the drivers and owners of sand suppliers to attend the meeting positively.
