Dimapur, June 7 (MExN): Civil organizations of Satakha as well as minister for Roads & Bridges G Kaito Aye today expressed condemnation for the rape of an 8 year old girl reportedly by the vice chairman of the Satakha adhoc town council on June 5 in Satakha.
Minister G Kaito Aye said in a message today that the crime was shocking and deserving of condemnation from all sections of the society. While sympathizing with the victim and the family, Aye also appealed to the people to remain calm and let the law take its own course. “I wish and pray that the very incident is an example to every citizen that the same ugly incident does not repeat in our society again,” Aye stated.
The Dimapur Kivikhu Village Union also denounced the crime stating it to be the “darkest incident in our village history.” In a message from its executives, the union said “it is one of the most unfortunate and the darkest incident in our village history and such act does not have a place in a civilized society.” The union expressed deep sympathy for the victim and her family and prayed for the child’s recovery, both physically and psychologically. “The DKVU believes that despite this heinous crime committed by an individual, the age-old mutual trust and respect between the two villages shall continue to remain the same as before,” the union added. Similarly, the Dimapur Satakha Union condemned the crime calling it to be “uncultured incident.” In a message of condemnation, the Dimapur Satakha Union urged the “authority to initiate action as per the law.”
The Xuivi Union of Dimapur also vehemently condemned the rape. “The beastly act of Kakiho is unpardonable and he should be awarded stringent punishment according to the law of the land”, stated a press note from the Xuivi Union of Dimapur. The union urged the authorities not to allow the accused to jump the laws. Instead, the union said, exemplary punishment should be awarded to him as a lesson to others. The union also shared in the grief of the family members of the minor girl and wished her a speedy recovery.
