KEE appeal to revoke transfer of BM Merapani

Dimapur, August 28 (MExN): The Kyong students’ union (KEE) strongly appealed to the Government of Nagaland to immediately revoke the transfer and posting of Hito Sema NCS Border Magistrate (BM) Merapani.
KEE President Subenthung Kithan and Vice president N. Amos Humtsoe in a joint press note stated that much effort has been given by the union as well as the border magistrate to retain peace and tranquility in the vicinity on the tension agitated due to the murder of Habib Ali committed by Suro Bhai Ali on August 14, 2011 at Lakhuti Village.
Although the union in coordination with the district administration and Border Magistrate has initiated series of joint meetings with the counter part civil organisations and the district administration to maintain peace in the entire border stretch between Golaghat and Wokha, yet the situation has not been normalized and still remains unresolved, the statement highlighted.
On August 22, 2011 Doyang Citizen Forum Golaghat, Assam; Kyong Hoho and KEE held a joint co-ordination meeting along with Border Magistrates of Merapani and Golaghat, Commandant 142 BN CRPF and Merapani CRPF sector commander at 142 BN CRPF camp Merapani to discuss on the recent incident. During the meeting, both parties agreed to arrest and award befitting punishment to those perpetrators involved in manhandling six Lotha Naga boys and destroying properties of one Y Lotha of Merapani village.
As such, the present Border Magistrate shall be needed in various stages of enquiries and it is important to mention that, the Kyong Hoho and KEE has also called for indefinite bandh along the border stretch.  While the Kyong Hoho, KEE and administrative officials are putting every effort to bring in normalcy on the hyper tension border zone, the recent decision of the Government on the transfer of BM Merapani is found to be immature act of the Nagaland Government.
The KEE also questions the sincerity of the Government as to why ADC Bhandari was given additional charge of BM Merapani when the issue actually needs more services of such Officers. Therefore, the KEE strongly oppose and urge the state government to revoke the transfer of BM Merapani immediately.
