Kohima | February 20 : Minister for health & family welfare Kuzholuzo (Azo) Nienu challenged the doctors and staff of the Naga Hospital Authority, Kohima (NHAK) to keep the patients satisfaction as primary goal while pursuing quality health care. He said this at the recently concluded awarding certification of ISO 9001:2008 to NHAK here. NHAK is the first ever hospital in Nagaland to be certified and registered as an International Organization for Standardization (ISO).
“Quality assurance processes balances the needs of the customer with the needs of the provider; however, the customer is the ultimate judge of quality,’ the minister said. He requested the doctors to spend more time with the patients for proper education and counseling without discrimination. “I believe a doctor giving proper education to the patient is much better than any other persons telling them.”
300 bedded NHAK, started in 1905, is the biggest hospital in the state. Currently, NHAK house 21 different specialized, having 37 doctors and 47 GNM.
