Lengreng FC (Peren) and Maverick FC (Mon) today overpowered their respective opponents on day 4 of the ongoing 8th edition of Capt. N Kenguruse Memorial Football Tournament 2024 at Indira Gandhi Stadium, Kohima.
Lengreng FC- 2, Peace United FC-1
Lengreng FC defeated Peace United FC (Phek) 2-1 in the first match of the day.
In an intense face-off, Lengreng FC showcased resilience after a tough start.
Peace United’s D.S. Nakro scored early, finding the net in the 27th minute.
However, Lengreng’s Ngansang quickly struck back in the 32nd minute, followed by Kawijibo’s powerful finish in the 40th minute, securing a comeback victory.
With this win, Lengreng FC secured quarterfinals berth, where they will clash with Dynamo FC in the next match.
Maverick FC- 12, St. Xavier College-0
Maverick FC put on an absolute masterclass, delivering a crushing 12-0 victory over St. Xavier College (Peren) in the second match.
Leading the charge, Kevisanyu scored a staggering five goals at 22’, 36’, 56’, 67’, and 76’ minute with Longkhoi close behind, netting three goals (25’, 42’, and 79’ minute).
Additional goals from Kekhrieletuo (28’, 62’), David (49’) and Manton (54’) rounded off the dominant performance.
Maverick FC now advances to face Halcyon United in their upcoming match.
