Twenty seven year old Kezhaseluo-o Pienyü today emerged the champion of 54th Wrestling Meet 2026 of the Angami Sports Association (ASA), held at Khuochiezie, Kohima.
Pienyü, representing Northern Angami Sports Association (NASA) downed Neithongulie Kuotsu in final bout to emerge the coveted champion title.
Son of Lt Thepfusanyü Pienyü (Kohima village), Kezhaseluo-o, has been awarded with a cash prize of Rs 2.60 lakh, sponsored by Angami Public Organization (APO).
In addition to prize money, Pienyü was awarded with a plot of land measuring 10,000 sq. ft at Chumoukedima, sponsored by Tepuleho Pusa & family of Viswema village.
Pienyü downed Menuosietuo Yiese in the first semi finals and overpowered Keneiselie Khawakhrie in the quarter finals.
28 year old Neithongulie Kuotsu, son of Do-ii Kuotsu (Phesama) representing Southern Angami Sports Association (SASA) stood 2nd position and was awarded Rs 1.80 lakh, sponsored by Northern Angami Public Organization (NAPO).
Kuotsu found final berth after defeating Thejavizo Merhieso in the 2nd semi finals. He downed Vizakietuo Suohu in the quarter finals.
3rd position holder Menuosietuo Yiese (son of Lt Khrielatuo Yiese of Kohima village), representing NASA, bagged a cash prize of Rs 1.40 lakh, sponsored by Southern Angami Public Organization (SAPO).
Yiese defeated Neikotsielie Krose in the quarter finals.
Thejavizo Merhieso, son of Kevipu-o Merhieso (Nerhema village) from NASA came in 4th position and received Rs 1 lakh, sponsored by Chakhroma Public Organization (CPO).
Merhieso defeated Khriesavituo Nakhro in the quarter finals.
Losing quarter finalists- Khriesavituo Nakhro (WAYO), Vizakietuo Suohu (NASA), Neikotsilie Krose (Chakhroma Youth Organization) and Keneiselie Khawakhrie (Western Angami Youth Organization) received Rs 20,000 each, sponsored by CPO.
All the participants under senior category received Rs. 2000 each.
NASA emerges Group Champion
NASA emerged the Group Champion with 69 and half points and was awarded Rs 75,000. Western Angami Youth Organization with 60 points stood second position and was awarded Rs 45,000.
SASA with 47 points secured 3rd place and Chakhroma Youth Organization with 24 and half points stood 4th position. They received Rs 30,000 each. The group prize was sponsored by ASA.
Seyiejalie Gwirie, son of Satuo Gwirie (Jotsoma) representing WAYO was declared as the Best Tactic in senior category and received Rs 15,000, sponsored by ASA.
Menuokhriezo Metha is Under-15 champion
In the Under 15 category, Menuokhriezo Metha, son of Neilhousalie Metha from Chiechama village, representing NASA emerged the champion and pocketed a cash prize of Rs 30,000.
Vimethazo Zhale, son of Visiezolie Zhale (Riisoma), also representing NASA stood 2nd position and received Rs 20,000.
Vimezeto Zinyii, son of Rokophreto Zinyii (Khonoma), representing WAYO and Zayievi Kikhi, son of Vilozho Kikhi (Viswema) representing SASA bagged 3rd and 4th position and was awarded Rs 15,000 and Rs 10,000 respectively.
Menuokhriezo Metha was declared as the best tactic in Under 15 category and awarded with Rs. 5000.
Quarter finalists received Rs 2000 each.
The prize money for Under 15 category was sponsored by Western Angami Public Organization while each participants received Rs 1000 each, sponsored by ASA.
Track suit for ASA’s participation in the upcoming NWA championship 2026 is sponsored by Razouhol Khieya at Rs 1 lakh.
Earlier, MLA Kevipodi Sophie, Chairman, DPDB Kohima and Kethosituo Sekhose, Director, Youth Resources & Sports, Nagaland graced the event as the special guest and guest of honour respectively.
The inaugural programme was chaired by ASA general secretary Menguphrezo Ziephrii while welcome address was delivered by ASA president Ruokuovikho Chale.
ASA wrestling secretary Zapusazo Sirie administered the oath to the wrestlers.
