The 67th Sports Meet (Wrestling) 2026 of the Chedema Village Youth Organization (CVYO) took place today at Chedema village under Kohima district.
In Senior category, Kezhavizo Thevo emerged the champion title while Neiphrevilie Chakrüno, Kevikrolie Pienyü and Vikhonyü Keyho stood 2nd, 3rd and 4th position respectively.
In Junior under- 15 category, Teisovituo Pienyü bagged the champion title while Khriebeiu Suokhrie, Ruokuokhotuo Pienyü and Kevidelhou Chakrüno stood 2nd, 3rd and 4th position respectively.
Earlier, gracing the event as the special guest, K. Neibou Sekhose, president, Nagaland Football Association and member All India Football Federation (AIFF) Executive Committee, maintained that Naga wrestling has been gaining popularity since time immemorial.
He said that Naga wrestling is deeply rooted in the cultural heritage of the Nagas, signifying strength and unity among the community.
Stating that disputes were resolved through wrestling bout in the past, he maintained that wrestling served as a vital channel for fostering peace and friendship.
He called upon the youth to stay committed and run extra mile to excel in wresting and other sports discipline.
Sekhose also reminded the youth that discipline act as the strong foundation for success in all aspects of life.
In this, he stressed on the need to instil discipline within the family for a healthy and prosperous society.
CVYO president Rüguotsolie Thevo delivered welcome address.
The inaugural programme was led by CVYO vice president Vikhotsolie Pienyii while Pastor Neisatuo Suokhrie, CRC Chedema invoked God’s blessings.
Ajabou Keyho presented a special number while CVYO wrestling secretary Ruokuovizo Medom administered oath to the wrestlers, representing Kharzou khel, Sakou khel, Kilozou khel and Thapfiino khel.
Zakieneituo Zhale, vice president 10th Northern Angami Assembly Constituency, NPF graced the closing ceremony and gave away prize to the winners.
The closing function was led by CVYO information & publicity secretary Visakholie Keyho while Ketseivinuo Chakrüno presented a special number.
Vote of thanks was proposed by CVYO advisor Neiphrevolie Thevo.
The event was officiated by Thepfuzolie Chakrüno as chief judge with Kekhrievolie Keyho, Thepfukhotuo Medom and Khrievozolie Kiwe as referees and Thinuokhrielie Medom, Kezhalezo Pienyü, Kelhouvikuo Thevo, Petevikho Keyho, Vikuosie-o Chakrüno and Thezakielie Pienyü as judges.
The 67th CVYO Meet (Wrestling) 2026 was hosted by Sakou Khel Youth Organization.
