Dimapur, October 1 (MExN): The Kezoma Village Council held a thanksgiving programme on September 30 to commemorate the National Panchayat Award – Deen Dayal Upadhyay Panchayat Sashaktikaran Puraskar (DDUPSP) 2020 which it received earlier in the month.
The programme was graced by Block Development Office of Jakhama RD Block Khovi Thaprü as special guest.
According to a press release received on Friday, Thaprü lauded the efforts of Kezoma Village Council and the villagers for actively coordinating with the department and also for timely utilization of the funds towards implementation of various projects, which has been recognized by the Union Ministry of Panchayati Raj.
He also exhorted the gathering to continue the good work and judicious use of the award for the welfare of the village in general. He also handed over the award to the village council.
Earlier, the special guest unveiled the monolith erected in commemoration of receiving the award while Pastor of CRC Kezoma Khwecho Zhale offered the dedicatory prayer for the monolith, the release stated.
Deen Dayal Upadhyay Panchayat Sashaktikaran Puraskar (DDUPSP) is given to best performing Panchayats (District, Intermediate and Gram Panchayat) across the States and Union Territories in recognition of the good work that is done by PRIs at each level for improving delivery of services and public goods.
Meanwhile, the council conveyed its sincere appreciation and gratitude to the Department of Rural Department and the BDO and his staff for their tireless effort for the development of the village and also nominating the village and achieving the prestigious national award, the release stated.
The programme which was chaired by Kezoma Village Council chaiperson Zadekhweto Zecho commenced with prayer by KBC Pastor Medongol Thami while greeting was extended by Ex-VCC Kezoma Puhovi Tase and GB Kedusül Tase tendered the vote of thanks, it added.
