Khing unveil RSU monolith

DIMAPUR, APRIL 21 (MExN): Parliamentary Secretary for Horticulture, R. Khing unveiled a monolith at Rengmapani village, under Niuland sub-division on Thursday, April 21. The structure was erected courtesy the Rengma Students’ Union (RSU). “To foster Unity & understanding with the neighbouring villages/tribes and preserve the historical identity and event of Rengmapani, this monolith is reconstructed by Rengma Students’ Union (RSU)”, read the message chiseled on the structure.
The monolith was erected at the same place in the village, where an existing memorial stands commemorating the martyrdom of two pioneers of Rengmapani village in the year 1978. The RSU had erected a similar structure commemorating the 32nd RSU General Conference-cum-Rengma Ngada Festival 2002 in the same spot. According to the president of the RSU some youth from the village had damaged the monolith in 2010. “It is now rebuilt and rededicated today with cooperation from all section of the people for which I thank all of you,” the president said.
