Khonoma, Kiruphema youths caution govt over DC Wokha assault case

DIMAPUR, MAY 6 (MExN): Consequent upon what it termed as the most “foul physical assault inflicted on Mr.Rovilato Mor, the Deputy Commissioner Wokha on 21th April 2012 by certain culprits from Longsa Village of Wokha District, two Youth Organizations from Khonoma and Kiruphema today issued an open ultimatum to the State government for taking action on three point charter of demands, the deadline for which expired today, the 6th May 2012. 

“Our Organizations are of the firm view that Government must not slack in executing full justice by punishing all the guilty persons and officials who failed to perform their duties on the day of the incident, for the interest of justice, peaceful coexistence between different Naga communities and to enable the Officers, especially the administrative and police personnel’s to fearlessly discharge their duties and uphold rule of law in future and, we shall continue to press the Government through all democratic means till we achieve this goal in the interest of all Nagas”, stated a joint press note issued by Cavinyu Kuotsu, President of Khonoma Youth Organization and Nicasato  Visienyu President of Kiruphema Youth Organization. 

Meanwhile the press note informed that as per a request made by the Angami Public Organization, the two youth organization have decided to temporarily suspend the agitation till the 16th May 2012. “Further, let it be known to all that if  no satisfactory action is taken by the Government within this extended deadline, we shall thereafter, take our own course of action against Longsa village of Wokha district and, for any undesirable consequences that may arise, the Government shall be held fully responsible”, the press note stated.

Furthermore, the press note termed as surprising to learn from “a reliable source” that the Addl. SP of Wokha, “who himself is one of the accused”, has been made the Investigating Officer on the same case. “If this is report is true, we feel that the whole exercise of the investigation will become futile and a mockery. Therefore we urge upon the Government to take immediate action and depute a competent senior Officer, who is not involved in this case, to take over his place without delay to ensure fairness and full justice”, stated the press note.
