Dimapur, March 13 (MExN): Khrietseizo Khezhie is emerging as one of the few professionally trained sports performance analysts from Nagaland, bringing sports science and data-driven methods into athlete development in the state.
According to a press statement issued by Sentiningsang Longkumer, Honorary Secretary of the Nagaland Basketball Association (NBA), Khezhie holds a Master’s degree in Sports Technology, a Postgraduate Diploma in Sports Performance Analysis from the Netaji Subhas National Institute of Sports (NSNIS), and a Strength and Conditioning certification from the Australian Strength and Conditioning Association (ASCA).
The statement noted that his work focuses on bridging the gap between performance data and athlete development through evidence-based strength and conditioning programmes and performance analysis.
Khezhie has contributed his expertise to several sporting events in Nagaland, including the Dr T Ao Junior Girls National Football Championship (2025–26), the 9th Captain Kenguruse MVC Memorial Football Tournament (2025), and the 30th Nagaland Wrestling Association Championship (2026). Through performance analysis and conditioning programmes, he has worked with state and national-level athletes to support their long-term development.
The statement also highlighted Khezhie’s experience as an athlete. He represented Nagaland at the 71st Senior National Basketball Championship in 2022 and won a silver medal in the Discus Throw event at the North East Games in 2016.
Longkumer stated that the presence of trained professionals in sports science is important for the growth of competitive sports in the state and encouraged sports associations and institutions to invest in expertise that can support athlete performance and development.
He further noted that careers in sports performance analysis and conditioning also present opportunities for young people interested in contributing to the development of sports in Nagaland.
