The Nagagenous group presents a special number in the evening session of WSSU golden jubilee celebration at Kuhuboto on Saturday, December 17.
Dimpaur, December 17 (MExN): Speaking on the theme of the Golden Jubilee cum 35th general conference of the Western Sumi Students Union, “Emancipation,” additional secretary Kikheto Y. Sema, IAS stressed on the economic freedom and self reliance of the people. Sema said that people should produce more from their land and resources. He said people were yet to use available resources to their advantage and encouraged the people to put in labour.
Sema also said that Nagas were in the habit of spending even before they could earn, adding, “We buy our present requirements out of next year’s money.” He urged people to do away with such habit. He called upon the youngsters to be humble as they achieve higher heights in life. As the theme “Emancipation” meant, the people should also do away with old bad habits and get adapted to new life and positive living, Sema added.
Earlier, Sumi Kiphimi Kuqhakulu (SKK) president, Nihoyi Kinnimi spoke about the problem of proxy teachers and said the SKK have started taking steps to see that such practice is stopped. He solicited the support of the public in fighting the problem of proxy teachers. He said that the duty of a teacher was not limited only to writing on the blackboard and teaching but also on carrying themselves well in society and be examples to the students. During the programme, The Nagagenous and Khaghaboto Area Students’ Union presented songs.
During the inaugural programme the event was marked by various cultural performances from Lotovi, Nihokhu, Kiyeto and Mughavi villages. Cultural troupes from Yimchunger, Kyong, Chakro Angami also presented cultural items.
Minister for planning and co-ordination, veterinary and animal husbandry, T. R. Zeliang; advisor sericulture and co-operation, Azheto Zhimomi; DC Dimapur, Hushili Sema IAS and a host of administrative officials, public leaders were present.
