Kikrüma Association Kohima celebrates Golden Jubilee

Marking 50th glorious years of existence since its inception in 1975, the Kikriima Association Kohima (KAK) today celebrated its Golden Jubilee at Capital Cultural Hall, Kohima.

Presently, KAK has about 1200 population in Kohima with 230 households.

Gracing the celebration as the special guest, Kohima Village Council (KVC) chairman Helievio Solo complimented the KAK for attaining 50 years and carrying with them the discipline and community spirit of their village, and continued to live responsibly and in peace with others.

Touching on the aged-old relationship between Kohima village and Kikriima village, he stressed on the need to strengthen a friendship for posterity.

“Our forefathers have set a good bond and we should continue to uphold it, to foster societal well-being and common good,” he said.

Solo also stressed on the need to reason together and move forward with renewed vigour for prosperity and peaceful coexistence.

Further, he called for starting Cultural Exchange or Youth Exchange programme to strengthen relationship bonds between the two villages (Kohima and Kikriima).

‘Be broadminded and explore job opportunities globally’

Sharing greetings, Nagaland Legislative Assembly (NLA) former speaker Thenucho Tunyi asked the denizens of Kikruma to be broadminded and explore job opportunities globally as job opportunities in the Nagaland’s government sector have reached a saturation point.

“If others can, why can’t we?,” he said and asked the denizens to have willpower to face various challenges and tasks ahead.

He also called upon the officers to be diligent and sincere in their approaches and continue to deliver good to the people.

In his presidential address, KAK president Povezo Puro said that the theme for the next decade could be “Future-ready reasoning”- “preparing our members for tomorrow’s challenges while honouring the legacy of those who built this KAK a living legendary.”

He wanted to see the KAK to continue to be a beacon of harmony, a bridge between culture and a home for everyone.

The brief history of KAK was shared by Kühüpoyo Puro, former chairman Nagaland Pubic Service Commission while Kiirethi Vero, eldest member of KAK released KAK souvenir and later pronounced act of blessing.

Potsutso Thira and Veliita Kezo have been announced as the new president and general secretary respectively of the KAK for the tenure 2025-27 among the others. Rev. Dziithohii Kezo, pastor Kikriima Baptist Church prayed for the new team of office bearers.

The programme was chaired by Vivolie Kezo, Convenor, Organizing Committee and president Nagaland Wrestling Association while vote of thanks was proposed by Dozhohii Tiinyi, Convenor, Finance Committee and President Chakhesang Hoho Kohima.

The programme also witnessed special presentation from Jubilee choir and folk dance by North Kikriima.

Besiingoyo Puro, convenor presentation committed led the acknowledgement of the dignitaries present at the celebration, which includes, MLA Dr. Neisatuo Mero, former minister Neiba Kronu, former minister Dr. Neikiesalie (Nicky) Kire among the others.

KAK also felicitated Vevotolü Kezo- first IAS from Kikruma and  Besusayo Kezo- first IPS from Kikruma.

Dr. Chikhungo Puro, pastor Chakhesang Baptist Church Kohima and Miidohii Kezo, pastor Chakhesang Christian Revival Church, Upper PWD Kohima pronounced invocation and benediction respectively.

Mentionably, Vetsonyo Thira was the first president of the KAK
