Kiphire dist observes Horticulture Farmers’ Day

Kiphire, September 9 (MExN): Horticulture Farmers’ Day was celebrated under the theme, ‘per drop more crop’ at Kiphire on September 9. It was organized by DHO Kiphire under PMKSY programme.

DHO Kiphire Senti Longchar while chairing the programme welcomed the participants and highlighted on the importance of the day. The guest of honour, RM Tripathi, SM Commandant 41 Assam Rifles encouraged the farmers to cultivate more horticulture crops that give fast return like chilli, vegetables and other locally grown crops. 

Vegetables Growers Association Nagaland, President Chumlongse Sangtam exhorted to the growers to preserve seeds and to cultivate more crops that has got local market demand. During the technical session, Dr N Khumdemo Ezung, Senior Scientist, KVK Kiphire was the main resource person. 

Altogether, 35 vegetable growers from 11 villages of Kiphire district attended the programme which was followed by free distribution of winter vegetable seeds under NEC and MIDH programmes.  

DHO Kiphire, Senti Longchar in a press release informed that various training programmes would be conducted for the stakeholders in the district.
