Kiphire, April 23 (MExN): Training on Nagaland village & Tribal council Act 1978 and Village Development Board Model Rules 1980 was held at Hoponkyu Memorial Hall, Kiphire town on April 22. Altogether 150 participants from various VCC and VDB of five RD Block namely Kiphire, Pungro, Longmatra, Sitimi, Khonsa, Kiphire district attended the meeting.
During the programme, Dr Kedise Pucho, Principal ETC, Phek, SIRD, Nagaland discussed in details the power, duties and responsibility of the village council. The VDB model rules was explained minutely and emphasis was laid on accountability of all VDB activities annually.
He encouraged the leaders of all five blocks including the VDB secretary and village council chairman that their people and village have huge expectations from all of them and therefore, they should sincerely and honestly work with integrity for the development of people and village.
Mentioning that they are the bridges between people at village level and government at all levels, he said that ‘the doorway for progress is in their hands which all must know.’
He also highlighted the specific points under the Nagaland village & Tribal council Act 1978 and Village Development Board Model Rules 1980.
Meanwhile, the members present expressed need of awareness programme and support from govt. on de-formation in their area. They also expressed their satisfaction at the various departmental schemes being implemented at the village level.
The programme was chaired by K Anenla Jamir, Deputy Project Officer, DRDA, Kiphire.
