KKK appeals to power dept

Dimapur, March 6 (MExN): The construction works of 2-lane Dhansiri Bridge between Shozukhu and Zukihe which was held up for quite sometime has again come to a standstill after a few months’ progress of the work.
A press note issued by the chairman of Khaghaboto Kukami Kuqhakulu (KKK), Jacob Zhimomi said that Pabscon– the company that is executing the work has been forced to stop the construction work as it is not possible to carry out the work due to 11 KV Power Lines passing right above the bridge, which is an hindrance to the work. He also said that one female worker – a mother of three children was critically electrocuted by one of the power lines while working at the construction site on March 4, 2011 and is presently undergoing intensive medical treatment at a hospital in Dimapur.
In this regard, Jacob said the construction company had earlier appealed to the power department to re-locate power lines but there has been no response from the department. To facilitate early completion of the project which already running behind schedule, the KKK had also written to executive engineer of power department, Dimapur Division on February 28, 2011 urging the department to re-locate the same but this time also there has been no response from the department.
Pabscon has made a point not to continue with the work by putting the lives of its workers in danger and completely stopped the work and has decided not to resume the work until and unless the power lines are re-located. In this regard, the KKK chairman, Jacob Zhimomi, on behalf of the company and the people of Khaghaboto area, appeals to the power department to immediately intervene and find a solution for
resumption of the construction works.
