KLC opens first Pro Bono Club

Kohima, June 10 (MExN): Kohima Law College launched the first Pro Bono Club in Nagaland under the Ministry of Justice & Law, Government of India on June 10 at its Conference Hall.  

According to a press release from the KLC Media Cell, a workshop on Legal Literacy in relation to social justice was conducted together with the official launching of the Pro Bono Club. The club was launched by Principal Soni while David Shiu, faculty coordinator (Pro Bono Club) moderated the workshop.

The resource persons were Asst Professor Kezhokhoto Savi who spoke on the topic ‘Right to Information Act, 2005’ and Neiteo Koza, state coordinator, Human Rights Law Network, spoke on ‘Public Interest Litigation (PIL) and Human Rights.’ About 150 law students actively participated in the programme putting up several questions and the students were also given legal assignments as part of Pro Bono Club projects in helping the general public especially the weaker sections, the release stated.
