
KOHIMA, DECEMBER 4 (MExN): The Kohima Lotha Students Union (KLSU) and all affiliated units under its jurisdiction have condemned the murder of Lt Thungchibemo Humtsoe (a Person with Disability) by unknown miscreants on November 30 at Lerie Chazou, Kohima.
A press release from the KLSU called upon all right thinking citizens to condemn the evil and malicious crime committed by the culprits and demanded befitting and highest degree of punishment as per the law of the land. “Such an act of murder is alien to the Naga culture, therefore KLSU requests the investigating agency to leave no stones unturned and arrest all the culprits involved and disclose to the public domain the motive behind the murder of the innocent youth at the earliest,” it stated.
The KLSU assured their cooperation to the investigating agency and also appealed to the law enforcing agency to deliver justice to the bereaved families at the earliest. It meanwhile cautioned any individual/organisation found involving to hampering/sabotaging the investigation process or attempting to secure the culprits under any circumstances “will lead to initiate serious action for which KLSU will not be held responsible.”
The union further conveyed condolences and solidarity with the bereaved families.
Leriechazou Panchayat Kohima
The Leriechazou Panchayat Kohima has also strongly denounced the murder. A press release from the Panchayat stated that the colony to a great extent has maintained a very peaceful co-existence for its ward residents and in resultant to this, the Panchayat is seriously infuriated by the said incident that took place in and around the colony.
The Panchayat viewed the incident as extremely ill-fated and termed it as a senseless act on the part of the perpetrator.
It vowed that it will remain steadfast in striving to maintain proper law and order for the security of its members and also ensured that such redundant and barbaric action is not committed again in the future.
Meanwhile, the Panchayat thanked the Police personnel of South Police Station, Kohima, led by the Officer-in-Charge and his subordinates for the timely intervention and efforts in taking stock of the whole situation, while at the same time, earnestly urged them to react diligently into the case and deliver the rightful justice, at the earliest time possible, failing which the Panchayat will initiate its own course of proper action
